About the event
No, it’s not a song from the 1937 musical, Me and My Girl! It’s a walking tour that begins under the great clock opposite Platforms 11 and 12 at Waterloo Mainline Station and goes on to follow a spectacular riverbank route from St Thomas’s Hospital and the Covid Memorial Wall opposite the Houses of Parliament to Lambeth Palace. From here it takes in some of the lesser-known corners of Lambeth. Along the way, we shall discover: mosaics under railway arches; a church spire decorated with the US Stars and Stripes; one of Britain’s most mysterious tombs; a busy street market; a onetime railway of the dead; a theatre that was once a notoriously vulgar music hall; and the site where the circus ring was pioneered.
